India steps up Ebola vigilance, postpones Africa Summit

India has implemented a series of health and diplomatic measures in response to the Ebola outbreak in Africa, including screening passengers at airports, conducting a national preparedness review, and postponing a major summit with African nations that was scheduled for later this month.

The Directorate General of Health Services issued a health advisory asking travellers arriving from or transiting through Ebola-affected countries to report to airport health authorities before clearing immigration if they have symptoms or a history of exposure to the virus. The advisory has been displayed at Delhi airport by the Airport Health Organisation and flags the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and South Sudan as high-risk countries, following a classification by the World Health Organisation.
