The death toll from wildfires in Los Angeles has climbed to 16 as firefighters race against time before predicted strong winds threaten to push the blazes toward iconic landmarks, including the Getty Museum and UCLA.

The Los Angeles County coroner's office reported Saturday that the Palisades Fire claimed five lives, while the Eaton Fire resulted in 11 fatalities. The fires have consumed approximately 62 square miles, forcing 150,000 residents to evacuate.
