VP Duterte surprised by proposed Sara-Imee tandem in 2028

Vice President Sara Duterte said she was shocked by an idea floated by Senator Robin Padilla of her and Senator Imee Marcos running in tandem for president and vice president, respectively, in the 2028 national elections.

In a media interview in Davao City, the Vice President shared that she first heard about it during Padilla’s speech in Malaysia. Padilla and Marcos accompanied Duterte during a personal trip in Kuala Lumpur, where she also attended the Independence Day celebrations and met overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

“Una ko nadinig yan kay Senator Robin Padilla at nagulat din ako dahil dun ko nadinig nagtatalumpati siya sa stage sa Malaysia at pagkakaintindi ko dun ay nagbibiro siya (I first heard that from Senator Robin Padilla and I was surprised when I heard it during a speech on stage in Malaysia and my understanding is that he was joking),” she recalled.
