Rains to persist as ‘amihan’, easterlies affect PH— Pagasa
Manila Bulletin
|December 29, 2025
Rains will continue to affect parts of the country despite the absence of any low-pressure area (LPA), as the northeast monsoon or "amihan" and the easterlies remain the dominant weather systems, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, Dec. 28.
Obet Badrina, PAGASA weather specialist, said the "amihan" is prevailing over large portions of Luzon, while the easterlies continue to bring cloudiness and rainfall over eastern sections of the Visayas and Mindanao.
"Patuloy ang pag-iral ng northeast monsoon, partikular na nga sa ilang bahagi ng Luzon or sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon habang ang easterlies at nagdadala ng mga kaulapan at mga pag-ulan ang nararanasan sa silangang bahagi ng Visayas at kasama rito ang Caraga Region (The northeast monsoon continues to prevail, particularly over some parts and a large portion of Luzon, while the easterlies are bringing cloudiness and rainfall over the eastern part of the Visayas, including the Caraga Region)," he said.
