PH, Malaysia push for united ASEAN amid regional unrest, trade tensions

The Philippines and Malaysia agreed to bolster Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) cooperation to address ongoing security and trade challenges across the region.

The agreement was made when President Marcos and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim engaged in a phone conversation on Friday, May 2, ahead of Malaysia’s hosting of the ASEAN summits this month.
In an Instagram post, the President said he and the Malaysian leader exchanged views on how ASEAN can address present economic and security challenges.
