MTCIP construction slated for 2027

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the World Bank will start construction of the P37-billion Mindanao Transport Connectivity Improvement Project (MTCIP) in 2027 for safer transport and better access across key areas of Mindanao.
The project will follow a 22-month design phase beginning in January 2026, with a five-year maintenance program after construction completion.
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon formed the MTCIP Project Steering Committee (PSC) to coordinate national agencies and local government units (LGUs) in strategic implementation and milestone reviews, with the first meeting held on Oct. 10 in Cagayan de Oro City.
Co-financed by the World Bank (₱25.46 billion) and the Philippine government (₱11.54 billion), the MTCIP will upgrade the 422-kilometer Cagayan de Oro-Davao-General Santos corridor.
