Mayor Francis wants to expedite vertical housing construction for the public

Metro Manila Council (MMC) President and San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora called on the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and National Housing Authority (NHA) to help expedite the construction of vertical housing buildings in different parts of Metro Manila as part of a large-scale operation aimed at addressing the perennial problem of flooding in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Part of the operation is the demolition of houses and other structures built alongside the cities' creeks and waterways that obstruct the flow of water and pose a grave threat on those living in it.

"We discussed clearing obstructions, which are usually homes. In order for us to be able to talk to them better and explain that they need to move their homes because this is one of the reasons why various parts of the city are flooded, we need to provide them with relocation because if they don't have anything to move to, it will be a problem," Zamora said.
