Former Taguig mayor Lino Cayetano is supporting the call of his brother, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, for elected officials to resign and for the holding of a snap election but said it should start at the local level in the city.

- BY JONATHAN HICAP

“I support this proposal. I agree with my brother Alan and ask that we start with ourselves,” said Lino Cayetano, who ran and lost in the congressional race in the May elections.

In a Facebook post on Oct. 5, Sen. Cayetano said, “People have lost trust in government and government officials. Honestly, who can blame them? So, here's a thought: WHAT IF we all just resign and allow a Snap Election. From The President, Vice President, Senate, and Congress. With One Important Addition - No Incumbent from The Above Can Run for 1 Election Cycle. National Government Has Its Bureaucracy and Will Continue to Run.”

Lino Cayetano wrote on Facebook that the Cayetanos should “give up power.”

“And this movement for real transformation will be a legacy our father will be truly proud of,” he said, referring to the late senator Renato Cayetano.
