During the Kadiwang Pangulo launch on Dec. 1, 2025, the Department of Agriculture (DA) was given the keys to reestablish the tissue culture laboratory in the Clark Development Corp. (CDC).

Tissue culture, otherwise known as micro-propagation, is a controlled-environment process that uses plant material in growing media to grow new plantlets in quick succession. This process aims to increase yield while maintaining consistent quality in order to realize profit.

According to a private-sector practitioner working with the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI), using high-capacity tissue culture racks can theoretically increase laboratory output by as much as 160 percent. High-value crops such as bananas, sweet potato, and ube are among the plant commodities to be produced from this facility.
