Cop chief cited for paying for stolen baby milk to spare single dad from jail

Police Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., acting chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), lauded the chief of police of Tabuk City, Kalinga province for what he described as law enforcement with a heart when he paid for box of infant milk to spare a single father from being detained.
What Police Lt. Col. Jack Angog did, according to Nartatez, reflected the human side of policing, or enforcing the law with a heart.
"I commend the local police chief for showing compassion while still upholding the law. What the father did was wrong, but we understand based on our own experiences as police officers that there are crimes that were driven by poverty," said Nartatez.
