Top lender BDO Uni-bank Inc. of the Sy family is beating up its green lending capacity with the planned issuance of peso-denominated fixed-rate sustainability bonds worth a minimum of P5 billion.

- By JAMES A. LOYOLA

“This marks the bank’s fourth peso-denominated sustainability bond following a P55.7-billion issue in July 2024, P63.3-billion issue in January 2024, and P52.7-billion issue in January 2022,” BDO said in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE).

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has confirmed that the proposed issuance complies with the requirements set forth under the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) sustainability bond standards and the SEC ASEAN sustainability bond circular.
