22-YEAR-OLD SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS AFTER HOUSE PARTY ATTACK

Thug jailed over 'brutal' murder of his mum's ex

A THUG who battered his mother’s ex-boyfriend to death after being invited to a birthday party must serve at least 16 years in jail.

Jack Naylor, 22, murdered Thomas Gomm during a ‘brutal attack’ following a party at Naylor's mother’s house in Salford. The killing came following ‘difficulties’ between the pair, when Lyndsey Davidson had invited her son and ex-partner to her home in Irlam.

Mr Gomm, 44, suffered traumatic head injuries and died two days after the attack, Minshull Street Crown Court heard. After being found guilty of murder in June, Naylor was handed a life sentence and ordered to serve a minimum of 16 years.

His trial heard that Ms Davidson had invited Naylor to her home on Irvine Avenue to celebrate his 22nd birthday. He arrived at about 7.30pm on December 15 last year.
