Rayner's 'devolution revolution'

LABOUR IN VOW TO TRANSFER POWER TO THE REGIONS

DEPUTY Prime Minister Angela Rayner has pledged to transfer more powers out of Westminster as part of proposals dubbed the 'devolution revolution.'

The Stockport-born MP said London had, for too long, 'tightly gripped control and held back opportunities' for other areas.

The Labour government has said its doors are open to areas which want to get in touch and take on devolution for the first time.

Ms Rayner, the Labour MP for Ashton-under-Lyne in Tameside, has written to council leaders, who are not currently subject to a devolution deal, to urge them to 'partner with the government.'
