NEW FOOD VENUE SET TO HATCH

Hatch, on Oxford Road in the city centre, closed last September, but was quickly earmarked for redevelopment and a planning application submitted by leisure chain STACK.

Now, the group, which already has experience in the North East of creating leisure hubs out of shipping containers, is set to relaunch the venue with street food and bars to a central plaza area with live entertainment.

Transforming the space beneath the Oxford Road flyover, developers say the new 'entertainment hub' will offer a 'dynamic' blend of street food, bars, and live entertainment, housed in repurposed shipping containers over two levels, and will create 160 full and part-time jobs.
