Planners to consider offices homes bid

PERMISSION is being sought to turn former offices in Macclesfield into eight new homes.

The application, from JWT Ltd, is to convert Catherine House, on Catherine Street, into one-bedroom flats and is now with Cheshire East Council.

At a time when many voices are calling for the redevelopment of brownfield sites to solve housing shortages, rather than build on green belt, the proposals represent an attempt to increase town centre living.

Should permission be given it would bring a vacant two-storey building back into use.
