New sandwich shop joins town which has become a hotspot for food venues

You can't beat a brekkie butty

PRESTWICH has become a hotspot for new food joints. In fact, at the start of the year, it was crowned 'Foodie Neighbourhood of the Year' at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival Awards.

Most recently the village welcomed arrivals of London bakery chain GAIL's and popular Manchester pizza franchise Rudy's.

Their openings caused quite a stir, and led to small local businesses such as Chips @ No.8, on Clifton Road, to post a statement online fearing the arrivals might result in loyal customers 'forget[ting] us' as they choose to spend their money with the bigger businesses more.

The post was met with an outpouring of support from locals who insisted they would still be visiting the beloved chippy, as well as other independently-owned local and businesses in Prestwich.

And this support has been crystal clear according to Michelle and Kelly, who opened their first sandwich shop this week on Bury New Road.

The pair run The Butty Club and were even forced to pull down the shutters early on their second day of business due to demand - they had completely sold out of sandwich fillings and salads.
