Deadline looming to give your views on new council plans

April 22, 2026

TIME is running out to have a say on plans to create a town council for Loughborough and a parish council for Broadnook in the south of the borough.

Charnwood Borough Council is carrying out a consultation as part of two community governance reviews, the process required to make changes to electoral arrangements and potentially create new councils.

An initial consultation in the autumn last year showed strong support for both proposals.

A second phase of consultation was launched on March 2, 2026, and the deadline for comments is 11.59pm on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

Councillor Jewel Miah, Leader of Charnwood Borough Council, said: "I'd like to thank everyone who has taken part in this second phase of the consultation so far and would encourage more residents, organisations and businesses to get involved and have a say.
