EU leaders keen to strengthen ties with 'impressive' city

EU leaders have said they are keen to strengthen ties with Liverpool as the city hosted its largest diplomatic event to date.

As part of celebrations for Europe Day, the historic Town Hall welcomed officials from across the 27 European Union nations on Friday.

Europe Day is celebrated across Europe on May 9 each year to commemorate the Schuman Declaration, which is considered the founding act of the European Union. Liverpool welcomed a dozen ambassadors from across the continent including the bloc’s ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Pedro Serrano.
