HOW much would I like St Helens to come good under Paul Wellens?

Well, a great deal actually.

Not just because he’s a very decent bloke - though he is - but my spies tell me he’s got one of the shrewdest rugby league brains around. It’s a conclusion I'd managed to reach on my own anyway.

The problem is, to state the obvious, St Helens just aren’t winning enough matches at the moment. And when I say 'enough, I’m using the Saints Fan Dictionary definition of the word which I think you'll find is ‘nearly all.

Saints were booed off by some of their own after their 17-4 defeat at the hands of Leeds Rhinos at the Magic Weekend last Saturday.

It was their third defeat in a row (Saints Fan Dictionary = 33rd) and means they're now sixth in the Super League table (SFD = nearly bottom).
