Rats bite holes in bins

THERE are fears of a “rat feeding frenzy” in Liverpool after rodents were found to be chewing through people’s bins in one part of the city.

The ECHO was contacted by resident Bob Pointing, who has lived in the Canning Street area for half a century.

Bob, aged 77, was recently confronted with the grim sight of a live rat inside his purple general waste wheelie bin outside his home.

Speaking to the ECHO, Bob said: “The rat I saw was trapped and I could not see how he had got in as the bin was empty and the lid firmly closed.

“Then I noticed a very small hole which (pest control) later told me is quite a common entry point for rats.
