MIGRANTS FACE UNCERTAIN FUTURE
Charity boss Paul Growney with some of the workers affected
AN MP has reached out to the Home Office as 26 people face the risk of deportation after their visas were cancelled.
The ECHO revealed yesterday that dozens of migrant workers at charity Caring Connections, based in Knowsley, could be forced to leave the UK after the Home Office revoked its sponsor licence earlier this month.
The charity, which provides home care to vulnerable people and charitable community projects, said it employs between 60 and 70 migrants, 26 of whom are sponsored which means they are able to live in the UK on the basis the employer (sponsor) offers them the security of a job. In a letter sent to charity CEO, Paul Growney, dated January 14 and seen by the ECHO, the Home Office said it has "revoked your sponsor licence with immediate effect, as we are satisfied on the balance of probabilities that you are failing to comply with your sponsor duties".
