YOUNG PLANS TO PLAY PAST 40

- By CONNOR O'NEILL

ASHLEY Young believes Everton have 'laid the foundations' for a bright future as he once again reiterated that he has no plans to retire.

The Blues' season ended on a high note as they claimed a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.

Charly Alcaraz's second-half header was the difference between the two sides at St. James' Park.

The Blues were 16th - one point clear of the relegation zone - with only three wins from 19 games when Moyes succeeded Sean Dyche in January.

However, an impressive second half of the season under the Scot ensured Everton finished a huge 23 points clear of the drop zone.

And Young believes the foundations have been set for the Blues to enjoy an impressive first campaign at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium next season.

He said: "I think that's the foundation. It's about working hard, the togetherness and the resilience.

"And like I say, that team bond they've got in there: the players - not just the players - the staff, as well.
