Rovers boss Andy Crosby was left frustrated with his side’s defensive errors as they suffered a fourth successive home defeat, losing 2-0 against Salford City at Prenton Park, despite dominating the early stages.Rovers failed to make the most of their fast start before Jorge Grant and Kelly N’Mai gave the visitors all three points, handing the hosts a fifth straight League Two loss.

Crosby was particularly disappointed with the opening goal. It came from a throw in just in front of the half way line, before a simple flick on from Ryan Graydon left Grant one on one with goalkeeper Joe Murphy.

The Tranmere manager said: “I thought for long spells we were more than in the game. We had more shots than them and more corners, but at this level you can’t drop off from the basics. From a throw in we don’t get the first contact, we don’t cover the run and suddenly we find ourselves 1-0 down.

“These are things we prepared for, things we knew about, but when you lose concentration, you get punished”
