Roy makes a return to Sons and says he is ready for a challenge
Dumbarton striker Ally Roy is ready to go back to where it all began - and help Dumbarton try to kick-start their season in style.
The 28-year-old has pitched up at the Rock for his second spell in a nomadic career which has taken him all over Scotland to bang in the goals, as well as over the water for Irish clubs.
He has joined the Sons on a deal after leaving Stirling Albion and has been in good touch so far this preseason, scoring in both of the recent warm-up matches against Irvine Meadow and Queen of the South.
The preseason fixtures are now in the tank, with the attention turning to Dumbarton's Premier Sports Cup group stage campaign - including a mouthwatering trip to Tynecastle to take on Derek McInnes' new-look Hearts side.
Roy started off his senior career at the Edinburgh club and said it will be a good litmus test for the revamped Sons side.
