DOUBLE child-killer Colin Pitchfork is to face a new parole hearing tomorrow.

- By HANNAH RICHARDSON

'I hope that the Parole Board recognises the risks of release are too great'

Pitchfork raped and strangled schoolgirls Lynda Mann and Dawn Ashworth, both aged 15, in two separate attacks in Enderby and Narborough in the 1980s.

He has made multiple attempts at freedom since becoming eligible for parole hearings nine years ago and the MP for the areas where Pitchfork committed his terrible crimes wants to see an end to them.

Pitchfork was sentenced to life behind bars with a minimum term of 30 years at Leicester Crown Court in 1988.

The minimum term referring to the period to be served until he would be eligible to be considered for release on parole was later reduced to 28 years on appeal.

Pitchfork convinced the Parole Board to release him in 2021, but he was soon back behind bars after breaching his release conditions.
