LOROS has published the submission it sent to a parliamentary inquiry into the funding of hospices.
The Leicester hospice announced in July that it was having to make cuts to services due to a shortfall in funding.
In August, the charity received £900,000 in additional government support, which it said was welcome, but “cannot help us address the financial crisis our hospice is facing”.
A newly published report, commissioned by MPs, has concluded palliative care services in England can “fail to meet people’s needs”.
The report suggested services were under “significant strain” and warned health and care services were ill-equipped to meet the needs of people at the end of their lives.
The government this month announced another £25 million in capital funding for hospices nationwide, but acknowledged services were “patchy”.
In its submission to the Parliamentary Select Committee on the financial sustainability of adult hospices in England, Loros said it was at “tipping point”.
