Experts back drive to Stand up to Cancer

ELIGIBLE PEOPLE URGED TO GET SCREENED FOR THE DISEASES

GET screened for cancer was the message from university experts as the Stand Up To Cancer campaign launched on Friday.

Cancer Research UK urged adults to check their eligibility for NHS or national cancer screening programmes including bowel, breast and cervical.

However, the charity said no-one should wait for screening if they spot something unusual.

Breast cancer screening typically starts between the ages of 50 and 53, and is done every three years until 71.

Women are eligible for routine NHS cervical cancer screening from the age of 25, while all adults are invited for free NHS bowel cancer screening via a home test kit every two years starting around age 50.
