Crematorium appeal case put to an inspector

BACKERS of a Hindu and Sikh crematorium are making their case to overturn a decision to reject it at an appeal hearing.

Harborough District Council turned down the application for Scraptoft Lodge Farm, in Keyham Lane, East Scraptoft, in April.

Officers had recommended refusal of the plan on the grounds its location, scale and design would disrupt the character of the area.

Applicant CDS Group appealed against the decision. A planning inquiry started on Wednesday, at the council's headquarters in Market Harborough.
