BACK IN PROFIT THIS YEAR BUT THE PROGNOSIS IS POOR, REPORT SAYS
LEICESTERSHIRE County Council is to end its school meal service from the end of the academic year.
The decision to scrap the service, taken by the new cabinet in July based on reports before the elections in May, emerged this week in a report to the council's Scrutiny Commission.
Richard Hunt, head of catering, hospitality and country parks, told the meeting Leicestershire Traded Services (LTS) school food service ended 2024/25 with a loss of £329,000, a significantly improved position from the loss of £1.9 million in the previous financial year.
He said it was on course to make a profit for the council of £41,000 over the current year.
