Beaten Tigers scrape into Champions Cup last 16

Tigers scraped into the last 16 of the Investec Champions Cup after Harlequins sensationally eliminated La Rochelle yesterday afternoon.Tigers' hopes of progressing looked to be over after a 39-26 defeat by DHL Stormers in Cape Town.

Their Pool 3 rivals La Rochelle only needed a losing bonus point to knock Tigers out, but the French side were beaten 27-17 at home by Quins.

It meant Leicester finished fourth in their group, with fifth-placed La Rochelle dropping into the Challenge Cup.

In Cape Town, early tries from Stormers' Evan Roos and Andre-Hugo Venter put the hosts in control before Tigers fullback George Pearson pulled one back.

Some Will Wand magic hauled Tigers back into the match at halftime and they led by six points when Jamie Blamire went over early in the second half.

However, tries from Leolin Zas and JD Schickerling edged the Stormers back in front before Tom Manz scored for Leicester.
