CHEADLE maintained their bid for an instant return to the top flight with a thumping victory over Leycett in NSSCL Premier B.
The Moorlanders dropped out of Premier A at the end of last season, but have reached the halfway point of the 2025 action in second place, just two points off the top.
And they will head into the business end of the summer in fine form after inflicting a heavy defeat on bottom-of-the-table Leycett.
Andrew Coxon made 43 early on for Cheadle, but it was centuries from Ali Khan and Matthew Goodwin which were the highlights as Cheadle amassed 286-5 declared.
The pair put on 167 for the fifth wicket with Khan hitting seven fours and four sixes in his 104.
And Goodwin wasn’t far behind, making 103 not out, an innings which contained 14 boundaries and five maximums.
Tom Warburton scooped 3-67 for Leycett with Matt Johnson chipping in with a couple of scalps.
Leycett’s reply turned into a nightmare as James Sellers took centre stage.
The visitors were reduced to 18-7 and were eventually skittled for a paltry 34 as seamer Sellers helped himself to 7-17.
Goodwin followed up his ton with a couple of wickets as Leycett’s innings lasted a mere 15.5 overs.
Eccleshall are leading the way in the division after winning at Norton in Hales.
Greg Clark and Jack Knapper both compiled half-centuries as Eccleshall navigated their way to 265-6 declared.
Clark top-scored with 89, striking seven fours and five sixes, with Knapper’s 51 containing five boundaries.
Chris Plant (36) and Andrew Calvert (22) also made handy contributions to the visitors' cause, while Jack Knapper picked up 4-30.
