ONE of the many quirks that Marc White has become known for, Gucci trainers and skinny jeans aside, is subbing off players once they pick up yellow cards and Tuesday night's National League South play off defeat to Boreham Wood proved why he does it.

Wanderers are edged out in a seven-goal play-off thriller

Dorking Wanderers were on top in Hertfordshire when the hosts top the lead through Erico Sousa on 17 minutes but they didn't let their heads drop and Femi Ilesanmi turned Alfie Rutherford's pass into his own net to equalise on 53 minutes.

And by the hour mark, Wanderers were ahead Jason Prior did what Jason Prior does best; head home a free-kick.

But while White had taken off Niall McManus early in the second half after he had picked up a yellow, when Jimmy Muitt had been booked on 58 minutes, the winger had stayed on the pitch.

Wanderers were made to rue this decision when Muitt picked up a second yellow on 67 minutes, leaving them with a 2-1 advantage but only ten men.
