Lewington targets title-tilt for Cobham

COBHAM manager Craig Lewington is hoping the short-break will prove to be a benefit to his side as they look to go one better this season and gain promotion from the Combined Counties League.
The Hammers suffered a Premier Division South playoff final heartbreak to Jersey Bulls on May 28 played their first preseason friendly, against Southern League Premier South side Farnham Town on July 1 - a game that ended in a 3-1 win for the west Surrey outfit.
But on Saturday, against National League South side Farnborough at the Reg Madgwick Stadium, it was Cobham who ran out 3-1 victors thanks to goals from Patrick Murray, Jordi Sada Paz and Jacob De Sa.
And it the performances in those games, that have given Lewington high hopes that Cobham, who claimed a 1-0 win against Leatherhead on Tuesday night, can put in a serious challenge for the title this term.
"We got into the playoffs last year so that would be a minimum, playoffs again," the Hammers boss said after the Farnborough match on Saturday.
"With Whyteleafe and Jersey out of the league I don't really see why we can't be the team that could have a go at it [the title].
