As a younger man, I never really understood why my elders were so obsessed with age and why they insisted on referencing their advancing years.

Now that I'm marching towards my half century, I understand this obsession completely.

Being self aware enough to know that there are some things you shouldn't be doing out of your twenties - skateboarding immediately springs to mind - is no bad thing.

The number one trick to getting older is to enjoy the perks that a lifetime of experience brings and not to take oneself, or other things in life, too seriously.
