When the music's too loud and the kids are grown

We enjoyed a long weekend visit from Saturday to Tuesday from Daughter #1 who is a scarcely believable 26 (TWENTY-SIX!) later this month.

Burning the candle at both ends, even when you're in your 20s, does take it out of you and she arrived, worn out with no voice on Saturday evening, inhaled a chicken balti knocked up by yours truly, watched some TV with The Boss and called it a night.

Of course, as every parent of grown and flown children knows, visits back home are often multi-event occasions and this was no different. Two separate appointments and meeting up with childhood friends to support a half marathon fundraiser for St John's Hospice in memory of their friend who died earlier this year after a road accident in Thailand.
