UK's longest-serving lollipop lady calls it a day aged 85

Britain's longestserving lollipop lady has announced she is hanging up her stick after 56-and-ahalf years.

Irene Reid, 85, has helped kids safely cross the road outside Longridge Church of England Primary School since 1969.

She's believed to be the UK's longest serving lollipop lady and received an MBE in 2012 for her services to road safety.

However the great, grandmother-of-10 has decided it is now time for her to retire - but has 'loved every minute'.

She crossed the children over the street one last time on Friday and said: "It was a wonderful last day.

"I've loved every minute of it. It has been 56-and-a-half years and you can't forget the half!
