This season's Premier League Cup campaign for North End's Under-21s ended with a 3-0 defeat by Ipswich at Victory Park, writes JOHN SMITH.
Their final group game in the competition where the four teams play their opponents home and away, had become a dead rubber for PNE after a defeat by the same scoreline at Leicester a week before Christmas had already eliminated them from the knockout stages.
The away side drew first blood in the 20th minute.
Somto Boniface whipped in a free-kick from the right wing which was missed by everyone except Town striker Jamie Mauge, who tapped in from close range.
