Road re-opens after three years of closures

A section of road near the Ribble which has seen closures and disruption for the past three years is back open.

New flood defences work on the delayed Preston and South Ribble Flood Risk Management Scheme are now complete at the Miller Gardens section.

Engineers encountered 'riverbank issues' on the work between South End and Miller Gardens so had to use a different piling method for the works.

Glass-topped walls are now in place and the Environment Agency has lifted the road closure after the recently installed flood gate at Miller Gardens passed a 'wet test'.
