Owen Wilson discusses his new Apple TV+ feel-good comedy about a found family and their relationships set within the world of golf

Even though his father was a great golfer and both his brothers played the game, American actor Owen Wilson has very little golfing experience.

When Wilson was a child, there were only right-handed clubs available at golf courses-the 56-year-old is left-handed - so he never picked it up.

But when it came to performing the golfing scenes in his new Apple TV+ golf comedy Stick, which he also executive produced, the Wedding Crashers star was committed to learning as much as possible.

Wilson, who made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the Disney+ series Loki between 2021 and 2023, as Mobius M. Mobius, took lessons and started playing golf at a very high level, every day, for over a year.

In the 10-part series, Wilson portrays ex-pro golfer Pryce Cahill, whose career took a premature hit 20 years ago.

After the end of his marriage and losing his job at an Indiana sporting goods store, Cahill puts his future in the hands of a troubled but very talented 17-year-old golfer named Santiago Wheeler-also known as Santi-played by Cuban-American Peter Dager, who stars in American supernatural horror film Insidious: The Red Door.

Stick also stars an ensemble cast, including American stand-up comedian and podcaster Marc Maron, 61, as Mitts, and Mexican actress Mariana Treviño, 47, as Santi's mother Elena.

And American actress Lilli Kay, 29, stars as Santi's caddy Zero, and American actress Judy Greer, 49, as Pryce's ex-wife Amber-Linn.
