Jammu University Researchers Discover New Plant Species

A research team from the Department of Botany, University of Jammu, has discovered a new species of onion (Allium) from the Trikuta Hills of Reasi district in Jammu and Kashmir, marking a major milestone in Himalayan floristic research.
The discovery was led by Dr. Sunit Singh, Post-Doctoral Fellow, University of Jammu, Dr. Sajan Thakur, Herbarium Curator, and Udhay Sharma, PhD scholar under the guidance of Prof. Namrata Sharma, and the Head, Department of Botany.
