Health insurance is becoming more common in India, but preventive healthcare plans are still relatively unknown.

In today’s world, where sedentary lifestyles have become the norm, it is important that health insurance policies cover preventive care. Heart disease, cancer, chronic respiratory disorders, and diabetes are responsible for more than half of deaths in India. Most of these conditions are linked to lifestyle choices, making prevention essential.

Noncommunicable diseases have been the leading cause of death globally for the last 30 years, accounting for 71 percent of fatalities.

In India, the economic impact of these diseases is projected to exceed ₹511 lakh crore by 2030. Overweight and obesity affect more than 17 percent of the population and cost the country ₹2.8 lakh crore annually, which is more than one percent of the GDP.
