COUPLE TO OPEN NEW JAMAICAN RESTAURANT

A JAMAICAN couple from Margate are planning to open a new restaurant in Broadstairs, citing a growing demand for Caribbean cuisine in the area.

Randon and Renee Gordon are aiming to bring authentic favours to the local community and celebrate Caribbean culture with the new restaurant.

The couple came to Britain from Jamaica almost three years ago. Mrs Gordon, 28, came first, to work as a nurse; Mr Gordon, 30, followed shortly after, leaving his job as a hotel chef.

Mr Gordon said: "My wife and I have realised that there is a growing demand for Caribbean food in the area.

"Whenever we would disclose that we are Jamaicans and that I am a chef, people always enquire about our Jamaican jerk chicken.

"I was working as a chef in Jamaica at a prominent hotel as a chef at a jerk chicken spot; therefore we decided we needed to do something to bring our Jamaican taste to Thanet.
