The Dewey-Wood Scholarship Fund is now accepting 2025 applications. Applicants must be a DISHS graduating senior and/or nontraditional student with an educational goal, which may include travel, and who has a commitment to lifelong learning and a sense of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

In 2021, the Dewey-Wood Scholarship Fund was created at the Deer Isle-Stonington High School for graduating seniors in memory of Mike Wood. Wood taught in the Deer Isle-Stonington school system beginning in 1977, until his retirement in 2009. "Wood believed in his students' abilities and encouraged them to achieve despite challenges.
