FINN RUSSELL has buried the hatchet with Johnny Sexton but reckons he never had real beef with the Irish legend anyway.

- BY ADAM HATHAWAY

Sexton, an assistant coach with the British & Irish Lions, and Russell shook hands on Monday when the Scotsman joined the tourists in Dublin after Bath's Premiership celebrations.

The Irishman used his recent autobiography to describe the fly-half as “flashy” and not a Test-match animal like Owen Farrell, but Lions boss Andy Farrell negotiated a truce.

But Russell insists he never had a gripe and is tapping into Sexton's knowledge of how to win in Australia which the former Lions star did in 2013.

Russell said: "It's just a bit of a craic I suppose - it was never a thing. When we came in, we had a laugh straight away and Andy put it to bed, so that was good.

"Not that it was ever going to be an issue. We're all here with the same goal, which is to win the series.
