McGuinness furious with 'early excuse'

JIM MCGUINNESS picked a fight with his own county board after Donegal staged a dramatic Croke Park comeback to reach the All-Ireland semi-finals.

The Ulster champions trailed Monaghan by seven points after a horror first-half.

Boss McGuinness conceded they were in danger of limping out of the Championship - before showing just why they're All-Ireland favourites with a brilliant second half.

Man of the match Shane O'Donnell, Michael Murphy, Conor O'Donnell and goal hero Michael Langan all supplied the crucial scores to turn it around.

Donegal reeled off 11 points in a row in the final 20 minutes or so as Monaghan were shoved out the exit door.

McGuinness acknowledged that his team looked tired initially as they hit the interval trailing by 0-11 to 1-15. But he took the unusual step of sticking it to his county board who had complained earlier in the week about the tough schedule.
