Aussies fear 'Pollock matches hype' after romp... and ramp up whinging over Lions' birthplaces

HENRY POLLOCK showed the Australians what all the fuss is about as his British & Irish Lions hit their stride and ran in eight tries.

But there are injury clouds over Andy Farrell's men as scrum-half Tomos Williams exited with a hamstring issue after scoring his second try on 46 minutes.

Ireland's Jamison Gibson-Park has been nursing a glute injury, which could leave England's Alex Mitchell as the sole fit No.9.

The Aussie hosts themselves were suffering with a painful chip on the shoulder, as they ramped up their moans about the Southern Hemisphere origins of eight of this Lions party.

The man on the microphone at Optus Stadium described a number of the players as Aussies, Kiwis or South Africans as he read out the team list before the match. He said: “The Aussie at No.14, Mack Hansen. Another Aussie at No.12, Sione Tuipulotu, the Kiwi now Irishman, James Lowe, at prop, the former South Africa schoolboy, now Scotsman, Pierre Schoeman...”
