Helik the hero to ensure U's safety

OXFORD'S two centre-halves were on target as Gary Rowett's team beat Sunderland 2-0 to secure their safety and a second season of Championship football.

Ben Nelson met Will Vaulks' free-kick from the left with an emphatic header to record his first goal for the club.

That helped to ease the U's nerves and Michal Helik doubled the lead from close range three minutes into the second half, following up after Anthony Patterson had found Cameron Brannagan's free-kick too hot to handle.
