HEIMIR HALLGRIMSSON is so certain Ireland will qualify for the World Cup finals that he is already boosting his backroom team for the tournament.
The Ireland boss has recruited Spaniard Pepe Lazaro as a new fitness guru and felt it was important to bed him in now so the players reap the rewards in America next year.
Hallgrimsson has never hidden his confidence that Ireland can reach the 2026 finals in America, Canada and Mexico — and he makes no apologies for it.
"I guess every coach is thinking that way," he said, when asked if his confidence was a ploy so that others, including his players and the Irish fans, started believing it too.
