Carrick: Bootroom is kicking us into shape... and up tablé

- BY STEVEN RAILSTON

MICHAEL CARRICK has saluted his bootroom after taking a staggering 16 points from a possible 18 since his appointment.

The 44-year-old was the Premier League's manager of the month for January, but he believes the award is the result of "really good work" by his coaching staff at Carrington.

Carrick said: "Let's be honest, it's not just about me really. It's about everyone, you know. It's about the staff, the coaching staff, the backroom staff, the players definitely."

Steve Holland joined the staff to work as Carrick's assistant manager, while Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans and Travis Binnion have worked as first-team coaches.

Those who have seen the training sessions have described strong chemistry among the backroom staff.

Before Binnion joined Carrick's staff, he was Head of Player Development and Coaching in the academy.
