GOING to sleepaway camp is a rite of passage for many young Americans.

Much like the Gaeltacht, kids pack up each summer for the experience of a lifetime and spend a few weeks away from their families.

And many campers love it so much that they choose to continue into adulthood and return as counsellors.

At Camp Mystic in Texas, 27 campers and counsellors were killed in the flash floods. Five more remain missing.
